Off to Sanya

Avoid Sanya at all costs! My trip was a nightmare: missed flights, shady seafood scams, and reckless drivers. Plus, the lack of mobile payments and exorbitant processing fees left me frustrated.

Summary

Sanya, recently visited by the CaiCai, has received a dismal rating of 0% due to unreliable flights, reckless traffic, and rampant seafood scams. Taxi drivers from Northeast China and frequent motorbike crossings require cautious driving.

I recently visited Sanya, and after some moments of quiet contemplation on the toilet upon my return, I have decided to give Sanya a rating of 0%. I have also blacklisted Sanya and will never visit it again.

Missed the Flight

When I checked the flight status before departure, the punctuality rate was only 37%, which scared me. Fortunately, the departure was delayed by an hour. However, the return flight was delayed by about 5 hours, which wasted a whole day.

Transportation

In Sanya, many taxi drivers are from Northeast China, but that's not the issue. The problem is that motorbikes often cut across the road, so you have to drive very carefully to avoid collisions. That's why the rental company suggested that you buy full coverage insurance. Plus, Sanya's airport is within the city limits, so many of the nearby roads don't have traffic lights. As a result, people drive even more recklessly. In Hangzhou, I'm used to following the rules, so it took me a while to adjust.

Shady Processing

There are many restaurants in Sanya that will cook your seafood for you, but be warned: it's common for them to charge inflated prices and rip you off. Plus, the supply of seafood is linked to the processing, making it tough to find a cheap option. Based on my experience, I urge you to find out the processing fee before buying any seafood. If it's more than you're willing to pay, just walk away—you can always eat the seafood raw! Don't be afraid of these vendors giving you a hard time. If you have any issues, just call the police and tag a few influential voices on social media.

The Face of Those Serving

No mobile payments

Wanting cash for everything, add that to the previous point, and it's totally

I highly recommend you to go to Da Nang instead of Sanya if you want to have a great time. It's 1000 cheaper, and you'll be treated like a VIP wherever you go. Of course, if you're rich, you can still go to Sanya and enjoy the luxurious lifestyle. Oh, by the way, renting a yacht will cost you 1200 yuan for a 6-person boat for 3 hours. Models cost 1200 yuan per person.
